happy doggy mother’s day!

oh i’ve been through the desert on a horse with no legs

i am bummed.

my bike was stolen today.

it was last seen at 1:30pm, locked in a bike rack by Burgess Hall (where I work). but by 4:30pm when i was ready to leave work for an enjoyable ride home… i walked outside and it was nowhere to be found.

eric got there right away as i called the Bradley police and reported it. and we even drove around and looked for it for about 30 minutes. but no luck.

angrily, i kind-of hope that whoever stole it feels really guilty and just brings it back to me tomorrow. oh that would be so great if i went to work tomorrow and it was back in the bike rack!

or maybe whoever took it really needed a bike.

but still. it was my bike, man!

oh whyyy did i have to ride my bike to work today, and whyyy didn’t i better secure the lock, and whyyyy didn’t i check on my bike between 1:30 – 4:30pm?

argh.

eric made me feel tons better and was really sweet. as soon as i called him, he dropped everything and got to Bradley within minutes! (he didn’t even flush the toilet, we later found out.)

he calmed me down and reminded me that it was just a bike — just a thing — and it wasn’t going to last forever anyway. and even though he spent so much money on it, and bought it for me for my birthday, he was so sweet and sad for me tonight.

i’m glad he is my man.

i am so lucky.

i have so much.

thank you God that it was only a bike.

birthday stove from moldystove

so, say you had a birthday.

and for your birthday you got lots of gift cards to Lowe’s.

oh, and you are a boy.

what would you spend it on?

cause if you know my hubby at all, you know it would probably be on tools, outdoor equipment, garage stuff, or a welding machine.  :)

but instead, he selflessly offered to spend his birthday gift cards on ME, and bought us this:

this stove is AWESOME!  not only is it sleek, clean, and has no trace of rust — but when you turn it on to 350 degrees…it ACTUALLY HEATS UP to 350 degrees!!  AMAZING!

thank you, my love!

maybe now i should learn to cook! ;)

an easter tale

there goes peter cotton tail, hopping down the bunny trail! la de da.

ahem.

well unfortunately this Easter, there was one less bunny rabbit hopping around.

it was a cold, dark April morning around 5:30am, when Mac & Trin woke up and started nudging me to let them outside.  it was as if they knew.

i drug my feet out of bed and staggered downstairs to open the back door, not thinking of the poor bunnies happily grazing in our yard before the sun came out.

as soon as i opened the screen door, Mac & Trin raced out at light speed. i laughed as I thought to myself, “wow they must have really had to pee.”

i was wrong.

my sweet pups instantly turned into hunting dogs and were chasing the frantic bunny rabbit around the yard until it finally gave up with no way out. then Mac instinctively took the first bite and i heard the rabbit squeal. it was the worst sound i had ever heard. maybe. i don’t know, but it was bad.

it all happened so fast, and i felt so helpless as i could do nothing to save the poor little bunny.

i ran upstairs crying and whining. eric woke up thinking i had been shot.

“no, i’m fine”  i said,  “but the dogs murdered an easter bunny!”

the look he gave me was priceless.

however,  instead of being angry that i woke him up at 5:30am, he came to my rescue. eric quickly got dressed, went outside and somehow got the dogs to stop playing “tug-of-war” with the dead bunny carcass. he brought the dogs inside, scolded them, washed them off, and even disposed of the dead bunny.  he’s my hero!

happy easter!

a relaxing, happy weekend

this past saturday, eric and I had a pretty great day! we went to the pet store, transferred our turtle to a bigger aquarium, and watched movies on netflix.  it was so nice to just relax, clean up the house, and be together. oh yes, and dinner at CULVER’S! ya can’t go wrong with the team scoopie kids’ meal.

on sunday we had church, a romantic lunch at Culver’s (twice in one weekend! yes!), and a hiking adventure at Forest Park Nature Center. it was snowy, cold, and beautiful! and we saw 7 deer!!! we want to live out there and carve wooden figurines of owls all day, or something.

oh, and on the trails we even kissed a little bit. OH YEAH!!!!!!

eeee! i love him!

what can i say, making out with eric never gets old.  millie will tell you.

anywho, here are some nature-ful pictures of us and trin. trin looks like a weird statue of a huge wolf!
